French Farmhouse Finds, The Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market, and a Food Photography & Styling Workshop in Atlanta with Helene Dujardin, Mindi Shapiro, & Tami Hardeman

Hello!
I hope you are all enjoying your week.
A couple of weeks ago I listed some French Farmhouse Finds in my shop.....
I thought I would share a few images of the items I listed......
One of my favorite finds is this French Grape Harvest Basket.....
I love the patina.
I filled it with flowering dogwood branches, I only wished they had lasted longer.....

On a side note....
This is also an area I recently set up to use as a desk.....
I used to work on my computer in this little room where I felt isolated from everyone....
I now feel more connected with everyone while working on my computer : )

I will also be bringing some French Farmhouse finds to the Chateau Sonoma French Flea Market this month.....
May 18th- 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
May 19th - 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This is an image of my space at the show last year......
This is such a fun show.....
There are so many wonderful French importers that come to this show.....
Hope to see you there....

I recently attended a food photography & styling workshop in Atlanta.
Helene DujardinMindi Shapiro, and Tami Hardeman were our instructors.

This is an image I shot with my cell phone of my salad I styled at the workshop......

This image was shot with my camera.....
The salad was my favorite food that we styled and photographed at the workshop.....

Food Stylist Tami Hardeman demonstrating how to make pretty ruffles with your
turkey lunch meat.....

Prop stylist Mindi Shapiro working her magic by adding a few props to the scene....

Food Photographer Helene Dujardin setting up her camera to get the perfect shot of the sandwich...
I found out about the workshop through Helene's blog, Tartlette, which is one of my favorite food blogs.....
Helene is also the author of the book Plate to Pixel, a book about digital food photography.....
My sister also lives in Atlanta and my other sister lives in LA, after the workshop was over we
all went to Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA for three days.....
I have lots of pictures to share with you of our trip.....
So much fun!

The Story Behind the Mason Jar Chandelier

Hello!
It's been awhile since I posted on my blog.....
Today I thought I would share a few images of a mason jar chandelier we recently hung in our home and a little history behind the mason jar chandelier.
I bought it last January when Yasmine closed her physical shop, Maison Reve in Mill Valley.....
It only took us a little over a year to get it hung....
It is something I wanted to purchase from Maison Reve a little over 3 1/2 years ago when I first saw it in the shop.... I couldn't resist last January when they were marked half off and there were only two left....

Back in 2009 my Mom and I went to a Rachel Ashwell book signing at Maison Reve....
(It was a special day spent with my Mom that I will never forget.)
Yasmine had these mason jar chandeliers hung in her shop, and my Mom and I fell in love with them.
I see this wedding pinned all over pinterest all the time.

I love that the chandelier has a story behind it even though it isn't considered vintage yet : ).....
One of the many reasons I love vintage items is I always wonder what the history is behind each particular piece....

You can see my post about Maison Reve here......
Yasmine no longer has a physical shop however you can still shop her beautiful shop online.....

On another note.....
I haven't had much time to post on my blog the past couple of months.....
However I have been posting on instagram.....
It's an easy way to share what is going on in my life by snapping a cell phone picture and sharing
on instagram.... You can find me under dreamywhites or you can view my feed online here....
I have lots I want to share on my blog now I just need to make time to write a few posts....

Hope you all have a great week!
Take Care,
Maria

Happy New Year and New England Love

Hello!
I just wanted to write a quick note and tell everyone Happy New Year.....
I recently was lucky enough to get to make a trip to New Hampshire to visit my sister and her beautiful family.....My sister has 8 boys....
We had so much fun together and had a few fun photo sessions together.....
I haven't ever been to New Hampshire before and I have to tell you I fell in love with New Hampshire while I was there....
I will be sharing more images in the near future....

************************************************

On another note.....
My friend Melaine of the blog My Sweet Savannah had to start another blog due to technical difficulties......
You won't be able to follow Melaine on her regular blog My Sweet Savannah anymore.....
You can now find Melaine at My Sweet Savannah Blog.....

Melaine was one of the first bloggers to feature my blog on her website.....
I will forever be grateful for all of the encouragement she gave me when I first started blogging.

If you feel inclined to share a link to Melaine's new blog on one of your social networking sites, I know Melaine would be grateful for your help.....
************************************************

On a final note, I have had a lot of emails inquiring about the blanket my son Austin is wrapped up in.....
The blanket was a gift from my sister in law....
She bought it from a Super Walmart in Montana....
The brand of the blanket is a Better Homes and Gardens brand that Walmart carries.
Unfortunately I haven't had any luck locating any more of these blankets.....

Hope you all have a great weekend!
Take Care,
Maria

Christmas Morning, A Peppermint Wreath How To, Taking a Holiday Break

Hello!
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
I just wanted to share a few images from our Christmas morning......
We stayed home and spent the day together as a family.....
I was able to snap a few pictures before the madness began on Christmas morning.....

Once again we weren't able to get the tree decorated before Christmas.....
We got our tree from a tree farm along Apple Hill a few days before Christmas....
It is a Silvertipped Fir Christmas tree....
(The vintage ski poles are from Belgium)

This year for wrapping paper we used Martha Stewart Packing Paper from Staples.....
We used a massive amount of MT Masking Tape : ).....
My favorite color of tape is the red and white designs.....
The girls wrapped most of the gifts this year and decided to stamp snowflakes onto the wrapping paper on some of the packages.....
The gifts were wrapped with Dutch butcher twine and then we added some fresh fir to the packages.....

I thought my son looked so cute wrapped up in his blanket he had just opened from his Aunt Nancy..... It is the cutest blanket from the Better Homes and Garden line at Walmart....

On another note.......
Last year I had posted images of the peppermint wreath we made, and received a lot of questions about it, so I thought I would share a few more details with you on how to make the peppermint wreath......
I had hoped to share this post with you before Christmas and unfortunately wasn't able to find the time to do so..... I think it would be fun to do for Valentine's Day as well......
It is a really fun and an easy project to do with the kids......

All you need is a styrofoam wreath form, hot glue gun, glue sticks, and peppermint candies....
We got our wreath form at Michaels.....
You can choose the size you think would work best.....
Unwrap your candies......

The kids love helping unwrap the candy : ).....

Hot glue rows of peppermint candies around your wreath......
Make sure you use a generous amount of glue on each candy......

We then glue another row of peppermint candies around the wreath to cover the holes so you don't see the styrofoam.....

I had the boys put on their newsboy caps for the pictures : )......

I do not store my peppermint wreaths, we discard them and then make a new one the following year.....

On a final note.......
I am taking some time off from shipping out packages in the shop starting today December 27th
until January 15th.  You can still order items from our shop, just please note that your items will not ship until after January 15th.....

I hope you all had a Blessed Christmas and I want to wish you all a Happy New Year.......
Take Care,
Maria
